The US Department of State recently disclosed that since Trump assumed the presidency again in 2025, the federal government has cumulatively revoked over 100,000 visas of various types, a figure that refreshes the highest record for visa revocation scale in US history.

For comparison, in the full year of 2024, the US revoked about 40,000 visas; while the number revoked in 2025 has reached more than double that of the previous year. US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott explicitly pointed out in an official statement: the total volume of visa revocations in 2025 increased by about 150% year-on-year.

Most people whose visas were revoked in 2025 were due to overstaying business and tourist visas. In addition, many people had their visas revoked due to charges such as drunk driving, assault, and theft.

This change releases an extremely clear signal —— the US tolerance for "non-immigrant status" is systematically declining.

  01. International Students

  Become a Key Affected Group

In the past year, requests for help regarding "visa revocation," "SEVIS invalidation," and "sudden termination of status" on Chinese social platforms have continued to increase, with a significant portion of cases coming from international students. Some students fell directly into a status crisis due to long-term stays abroad during the pandemic, non-standard status transitions, or flawed records.

Data disclosed by the US Department of State shows: approximately 8,000 international students were directly stripped of their legal status to stay in the US; approximately 2,500 special category workers were affected simultaneously. What is more alarming is that this is not a "temporary enforcement action". As early as August 2025, the Trump administration officially announced that it would conduct a comprehensive review of all foreign nationals holding valid US visas (approximately 55 million people). This move is widely considered the largest visa re-examination action in US history.

The US Department of State has significantly moved the enforcement logic forward —— from "whether entry was illegal" to upgrading to "whether one continues to meet national public and security requirements".

  02. Visa Issuance End Tightening Simultaneously

In addition to large-scale revocations of existing visas, the US government is simultaneously tightening the visa issuance port.

Recently, the US Department of State announced that starting from January 21, 1026, it will suspend the processing of visa applications from 75 countries. This move indicates that the US visa processing logic is moving further forward from "whether visa conditions are met" to judging the applicant's future economic dependence risk and social cost.

  03. Policy Logic Has undergone Fundamental Change

Combining the aforementioned visa revocations and comprehensive review measures, the US has formed a triple tightening pattern of "revoking stock + suspending increment + strengthening review".

We need to face a reality: all non-immigrant visas are essentially temporary, conditional administrative permissions that can be unilaterally revoked, rather than status rights protected by the Constitution.

Once the policy wind shifts, an individual's academic, career, and family arrangements may be "paused" at any time.

  04. How to Truly Solve Status Anxiety?

In the current policy environment, the importance of status itself is rising significantly. As visa revocations, comprehensive reviews, and issuance tightening measures advance in parallel, the stability and predictability of status are becoming key variables affecting personal academic, career development, and family planning.

In the past, many people regarded visas as "long-term usable passes"; but today, the US government has clearly told everyone with data —— visas can become invalid at any time. Status planning is no longer an option to "consider later," but a core issue that must be faced right now. Now is the key window period to lay out US status and seize the initiative.

Among the various immigration paths at this stage, EB-5 investment immigration is gradually becoming the choice of more and more applicants. Under the new EB-5 law, rural EB-5 projects are exempt from scheduling and have priority approval advantages; the "concurrent filing" policy allows applicants to submit I-526E and I-485 simultaneously in the US, and get a Combo card in about 3 months, quickly achieving legal residence and employment qualifications.

WorldWay holds two high-quality EB-5 rural projects to help investors realize US identity planning steadily, without scheduling delays, and efficiently, quickly stepping onto the road to a new life in the US. Global quotas are limited, seats are scarce, first come first served!

In addition, the Trump Gold Card Immigration Project is officially open for application. WorldWay has taken the lead in launching Gold Card acceptance services to help applicants efficiently advance the application process and grasp the critical time window.
